Practice Overview 

Nishaat Roojee was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in July 2023 and admitted to the Mauritian Bar in September 2024.

Nishaat joined Chambers in September 2024 after completing her pupillage under the supervision of Yusuf Aboobaker SC, Shaukat Oozeer SC and Kader Rajah SA.

Her practice encompasses a wide spectrum of contentious and advisory work. She advises and appears in matters involving commercial litigation, company law, employment and labour disputes, construction law, medical negligence, shipping law, insolvency, as well as contractual disputes.

Nishaat appears regularly before the Supreme Court of Mauritius, the Judge in Chambers, the Industrial Court, the Employment Relations Tribunal, the Intermediate Court and the District Courts.

Nishaat also has experience in family law matters, advising and assisting clients in proceedings relating to matrimonial and family disputes. In addition, she provides assistance to individuals in police investigations and enquiries. 

Alongside her legal practice, Nishaat is an active member of the Young Bar Committee, an ad hoc committee of the Mauritius Bar Association, dedicated to advancing the interests, welfare and professional development of junior members of the Bar.
