Shaukat practises in civil and criminal law with special areas of interest in Company, Competition & Commercial Law, Insurance & Banking Law and Labour & Industrial relations. He appears before all the jurisdictions of Mauritius.

A past Secretary and Chairman of the Mauritius Bar Association, past Chairman of the National Accreditation and Equivalence Council, he is also a former member of the Law Reform Commission and of the Board of Technical School Management Trust Fund.

He sat on the board of important institutions as member. He advises and appears for clients including commercial banks, insurance companies and educational institutions.

Education

Shaukat holds a Diploma in Business Management, obtained his LLB (Honours) degree from London Guildhall University before getting called to the Bar of England & Wales at The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1984 and to the Mauritian Bar in the same year.
