Shoaib regularly appears before the courts of Mauritius in a broad range of practice areas including mostly challenges against decisions of licensing and regulatory bodies of Mauritius; and especially in areas involving Financial Services, Financial Crimes, Building Permissions, Planning Policy, Commercial Law and general Public and Civil Law.

 He holds over 5 years of pre-Q experience at the Chambers, having been trained by senior members of the Chambers in various aspects of litigation and advocacy.

 Prior to being called to the Bar of Mauritius, Shoaib worked for 2 years in law firms in the UK specialising in Planning Law, Construction & Engineering, and Financial Services.

In 2024 Shoaib was awarded the jury’s discretionary prize for Excellence in Advocacy at the Gray’s Inn Moot.

In Mauritius, Shoaib completed his pupillage under the supervisions of Yusuf Aboobaker SC, Hervé Duval SC, Jaykar Gujadhur SA, and Anwar Moollan SC, with all of whom he continues to collaborate as junior barrister.

Shoaib accepts briefs in Public Law, Commercial Law, Company Law, Financial Services law, Construction Law, and general Civil Law matters.

Beyond contentious matters, Shoaib is heavily involved in the drafting and review of commercial contracts.

 He has also authored and co-authored academic pieces on Constitutional Law and Legal History and Philosophy.
